Mohammad Shams Langeroudi, born in 1950 in Langarud, is among the most distinguished poets and literary scholars of contemporary Iran. Writing in an intimate, richly evocative language closely attuned to everyday life, he has come to be recognized as one of the most influential voices in Persian poetry over the past several decades.

To date, he has published more than twenty-five volumes of poetry, many of which have been reprinted numerous times. Langeroudi has also made a significant contribution to Iranian literary scholarship through his four-volume Analytical History of New Poetry, widely regarded as one of the most authoritative studies of contemporary Persian poetry and its development.

Among his best-known poetry collections are Ashes and the Lady, The Invisible Celebration, and Fifty-Three Love Songs. His novels include Parade on Hollow Soil, Those Who Come to My House, and I Am Leaving So I Can Make It to the Concert. He is also one of Iran’s most active literary and cultural figures, with a career that extends beyond literature to include performances in acclaimed films, songwriting, singing, and musical composition.
